Steve Hanks Born: (Stephen Michael Hancock) 16/03/1959
Place: Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England.
Married to Carol with 3 Children,
Stuart, Darren & Christopher.

I  was a late comer to the music scene, even though my father
(Gordon) was in the music business I didn’t start to learn the guitar properly until I was 20, It wasn’t long before I was gigging in bands, all be it not very good ones, but you have to start somewhere!
I used to fix these believe it or not!   360 Squadron RAF/NAVY just one of the Squadrons I served on.
The first Country band was an outfit “Country Style” from Kings Lynn, Norfolk where I was based in the Royal Air Force as a technician, I played lead guitar and harmony vocals for a year before leaving to start and front my own band.
The new band “Moonshine” was quite popular in and around the Norfolk area in the early to mid 80’s, until the time came to leave the RAF in 1986 and seek full time employment in civi street, I ended up at Norwich Airport (50 miles away) as a Fitter.
Traveling to work proved too much, and I had to leave the band, but soon found a place as a Bass player in a well established (Norwich based band) “Spiral”.
18 months later and I was on the move again, back up to my home town of Doncaster for full time employment at RAF Finningley, and another band as a Bass player “Reno”, This only lasted 18 months before redundancy and a poor employment market forced me into turning professional (1992) in the Country Music industry, Something I had always wanted to do but never had the nerve.

First as Duo called Hanks & Silva with partner Keith Sterling (Silva) they plugged away at the local club scene making quite an impact. Two years later came a third member, Pedal Steel player Nick Payne and the name change to the Steve Hanks Band, Despite a few changes in line up this has been pretty consistent up until the present date only replacing the name to Trio instead of Band.
Bass player Stuart Ramsden joined in 96 and Multi Instrumentalist Steve Harrop in 98.

Steve Harrops son Robben took the place of Stuart in October 2000 and was with the band until the end of May 2002 when I embarked on my Solo career.

I also work as a TV Actor/Extra and have had numerous appearances in programme's such as Emmerdale, Coronation St, Heartbeat The upper Hand and speaking parts in A Touch of Frost & Coronation Street as well as several commercials and a couple of films.

I am a self contained fully professional Country Music entertainer, and use a top of the range drum machine/sequencer to complement my sound but all the lead guitar is played live and to a high standard, the bass guitar has been put on mini-disc but has been played by myself (Steve Hanks).

My material ranges from Hanks Williams to the Mavericks, and is played in an up to date style but with a traditional feel which make me popular with dancers and listeners alike, You can see from the photos that I look the part on stage and have been reported to have a wicked sense of humor, What more can you ask from an act?

I  had avoided doing my own material until recently when I was asked to write a song for a Film called Among Giants, The song “Why” wasn’t used in the film for copyright reasons but the response I got from playing the song live has prompted me into writing more “Another sunny day” & "Friends Are" being the latest, with more in the pipeline.

My P.A system is big enough to handle the biggest of gigs.

I have played (as a band) clubs and festivals all over the British Isles, including the Shetland Isles, Belgium & Holland.
